Avoid Stretch Marks - Top 4 Tips

You see, having a baby is great. There is no better experience in the world than having a baby. Unfortunately you also have a 90% chance of getting stretch marks... and getting the dreaded welts is something you want to avoid if you can.

It has been shown that one of the top reasons for anxiety, depression and upset amongst women is stretch marks on their body. The marks do not cause physical discomfort. The damage they cause is psychological. Women complain that they make them feel unclean and/or make their body look damaged. If you are in a relationship they can affect your confidence as there is a perception amongst women that they are not attractive to look at and even less attractive to touch.

So what exactly are they and why do they appear?

Stretch marks (or striae to give them their proper name) are caused by a rupture of elastic tissue in the skin, which causes purple lines that fade to become white, depressed surface irregularities. Surprisingly these lines are not just confined to pregnancy. They can be caused by rapid growth, weight gain, pregnancy and also by weight loss. One last thing which is surprising. The younger you are the more likely you are to get them as your tummy skin is tighter.

But please do not despair. I am going to show you proven techniques how to avoid stretch marks.

1. Eating a healthy diet is a must. Lots of foods with vitamin c and e and the mineral zinc should be on your plate most days.

2. You must keep your skin hydrated both internally and externally. This means not only drinking lots of water but also making sure your retain moisture in your skin.

3. You  must use a specialised cream to help strengthen the skin on your tummy, improve its collagen structure, and increase the skin's natural elasticity so at stop stretch marks appearing.

4. Last, but not least, you must do all of the above as soon as you can in your pregnancy.

You don't have to accept stretch marks. They can be avoided.
